Field Notes:

In the fall of 2013 I took a trip out to Glacier National Park.  On the way home I drove by Granite Park Trail and stopped to look at dead trees surrounded by green bushes.  The dead trees are a contrast to the lush growth and life around it.  Death gives way to life so the cycle can continue.  If the law of conservation of energy (matter is neither created nor destroyed) holds true then what of our spirit?  What happens to us when our earthly shell is removed.  I like to believe our essence gives way to new life.  Just as these trees once were alive but now dead give way to the new life surrounding it.
