Field Notes:

Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in the American Southwest near Page, Arizona.  It is one of the most photographed slot canyons.  Because of this, it was a challenge to photograph in a unique way.  Since I’m a big fan of abstraction and shapes I pictured the rock formation to be waves crashing against each other, frozen in time.  This image is a combination of 3 different exposures.  Since the human eye can see more tonal ranges than a camera I employed an HDR (high dynamic range) technique in post production to keep detail in the highlights and keep detail in the shadows.  What do you see when you look at Antelope Waves?

Nikon D300s / Sigma 10-20mm / 20mm / f10 / ISO200 / 2sec / (HDR Bracketed +/- 1 stop)
